A feef story:
I was living in San Francisco at age 29, content with working for a dot com for the past 6 years. My company moved to New York, so I had to jump ship. I landed at a new job that, well, left me tired, disappointed and disgusted. I felt utterly uninspired and empty. It was time to make a change and I knew it had to be a big one.
I dug deep into my psyche to find what really inspired me and what made me excited. After months of soul searching, research and praying for guidance, I stumbled upon a graduate program that reconnected me to my passion for education and children. The program focused on working with chronically ill children and their families – supporting the children through painful procedures and listening to parents in deep emotional pain. I learned to spend hours playing with children. I never knew how incredibly powerful and healing play can be - how a child reveals exactly what they are thinking and who they are through their play. I learned to help children and their families to develop socially, emotionally and intellectually. I entered into a beautiful and inspiring place in my life - a place I believe was truly guided by some divine higher power.
It has been 5 years since I left graduate school and I continue to work with high-risk children and their families through challenging and painful times. I am constantly reminded how privileged and fortunate I am to have explored and discovered my feef!
